These days I've been using Drambo differently than I've used it before.

A small 4-channel MIDI looper for live sequencing the 4 MIDI channels of my Analog Four, no audio, no FX, no AU. I cleaned up the interface by removing send and master and setting the upper section to multitrack mode (see first screenshot).

So far I'm happy with it, but there's one thing that's causing me confusion: the pattern bar doesn't adapt to the selected track but always displays the pattern number of the longest track (see screenshot 2). The notes within the sequence are displayed correctly, but the length of the track always remains the longest (which corresponds to the Main track).

Consequently, editing the length of individual tracks becomes confusing.

Am I missing something?

Thanks

I have a few questions regarding this:

1. How do I connect the smartphone to Drambo via Bluetooth?

TouchOSC supports Bluetooth connectivity, but when I initiate a search, the smartphone doesn't find the iPad, and Drambo doesn't detect the smartphone as a Bluetooth device. I’ve managed to connect the devices using third-party apps (like Loopy Pro or Midimittr), but a direct connection isn't working. Is there a solution for this?

2. I can't get the feedback working.

I created an 8-step sequencer on the smartphone and linked it to the sequencer in Drambo. When playing, I can see the steps progressing on the smartphone. When I place steps in Drambo, they appear in TouchOSC. However, when I place a step on the smartphone (in TouchOSC), the step appears but immediately disappears. What might I be doing wrong? The sequencer is built using button modules. In the TouchOSC settings, each button is configured to both send and receive signals, and feedback is enabled in Drambo.

Hey there,

this is more of a launchpad x issue and not necessarily drambo, but since I can't find any useful information regarding both, I'll ask here - maybe someone had a similar problem with this daw + controller setup.

I recently upgraded my launchpad mini mk2 working with drambo without issues to newer and sexier X sibling. I created 4 custom modes in components, that are blank midi notes without light on different channels per mode.

The mapping in drambo works fine and it does what I want, but I have to touch the pads to light up. whenever I change custom mode - they don't light up automatically which makes it a bit unusable since you have to trigger every note to light the led up and get a visual feedback. I also had issues with leds blinking and not providing steady light, but found out that it's a mode slot related thing (which I don't know how to change).

I could possibly use the mapping based on conditions with launchpad in legacy mode, but utilizing 8 custom modes was one of the reasons i decided to upgrade the controller. If anyone has the device and is willing to help me out with it, I'll be grateful. Other workarounds and known limitations of lpx with drambo will also be appreciated.

Cheers!

.

Hey there drambo wizards,

I'm trying to create octatrack style looper, for quick and hands on clip resampling and a fader between track and a sampler . The general idea seems to be quite easy to recreate, but I'm stuck with interfacing a flexible input source for the module. I want the looper to live on bus A, so I routed all of the track outs to A before they go to the master.

Here is what I have now. I don't have a big screen, so I can't really expand it and take a screenshot., but it's quite straighforward.

There are eight separate track audio inputs before the module interface, each of them being connected to corresponding n-1 switch. There are four layers of samplers using the same n-1 type switch with exactly the same connections. The switch sets an input source for a sampler (track) and I'm able to record a clip and sequence it. Then there is a x-fader slider that lets me shift between track input and recorded sequence.

This module works as expected, but I can't think of any elegant and interfaced way to create a bypass mixer, that would feed other (non-chosen on sampler/looper layers) track inputs directly to the master, while letting me fiddle with the ones I'm looping. Adding multiple sources to one input would also be really cool. I was thinking some complex morph and 1-n setups per each input, but maybe there is a cleaner and more efficient way to do it.

Thanks in advance for your magic, folks.

I’m a beginner to iOS music making and I’ve been looking to replace my ancient keyboard sampler for live use, it’s too bulky and uses floppy disks that sometimes fail. It’s been suggested to me several times that Drambo is the answer to my prayers, but when I look up tutorials I haven’t found instructions relevant to my use case.

I want to use an Akai MPK Mini Plus with Drambo, and to be able assign samples to ranges of the keyboard so I can play a variety of sounds at the same time. Basically like I’m making a sample based synth that uses a variety of samples at the same time.

I’m not sequencing anything, just switching on the fly between samples assigned to the keys and pads, and ideally using the MPK’s knobs to control effects.

My over-30 year old sampler lets me play like this and has enough polyphony that allows repeatedly playing samples and layering it up with slow decays. When I bought an sp404mkii I was sad to realize it just doesn’t have the envelope controls and polyphony to do the same thing that ancient sampler does.

Could anyone please steer me in the right direction for tutorials or maybe a quick run through of th steps I should be taking to get started with this? Just feeling a little lost now

Currently, pressing the numbered buttons on the switch doesn't result in any change, the buttons seem to be selected and change colour but it doesn't change where the MIDI goes.

What's the best way to have the possiblity of using both the slider and the switch's buttons instead of just one or the other?

I want to "randomize" the arrangement, so my own track surprises me. Of course I need to replace default master mixer with a customized one. Any advice on that? Has anyone built any stuff dealing with this scenario like controlled group tracks, that you can point me to?

I do actually have a killer 8 track idea boiling, I want to take it to the next level.
