Potentially using something such as the ADAT blackface

could add a different tone as they only have 16 bit/48kHz D/A's.

ii. I've also recently learnt from a couple of my recent projects that taking the signal out

from the iPad running it through some analog circuitry and back again does change

the sound in a pleasing way.

iii. The black faced ADAT's have level meters which I think are quite cool. ;)

hi all, I will occasionally chime in with a request for note locks but haven’t been able to explain very well what I have in mind. Here’s a working hack of the sequencer module which gives you the ability lock any parameter setting to a midi note, allowing you to ‘play’ p locks. You could also change this rack a little and just use it as a bank of recallable and sequenceable presets. I’d love to see this get made into a module with some added functionality and less hackiness, but I’m having a lot of fun with it.

https://patchstorage.com/note-locks/

Like a real echo sounder Latency Sonar sends out short audio signals and assists in measuring the time it takes for the echo (received signal) to arrive.

The measurement is done by delaying the reference signal (TX) to a point were this TX pulse and the received pulse RX overlap. Now the set delay is the equivalent to the delay of the audio signal path.

There are two ways to analyse the time difference of the two signals:

an oscilloscope that shows both signals on the same trace. Markers at specific intervals can be added through an additional marker oscillator.

the human ear. The TX signal is sent to the left ear and the RX to the right. Now the delay can be adjusted until the signal appears to come from the center.

It is available on Patchstorage: https://patchstorage.com/latency-sonar/

The .zip file contains the module as part of an example project and a manual in PDF form.

Hey everyone,

I've got a couple of patches on patchstorage. So far I only "promoted" them on the loopy pro forum, because that's where it all started for me.

Most of them are midi racks of some sort, sequencers for drums and melodic ones, arps, chord generators, but also a loop slicer, drone synth and a playable feedback thing. On top I've got 10+ patches, that are basically ready for release, I 'll put out one by one in the not too distant future.

Going forward, I'll post new patches here, too. What's already there, you can find here:

(Sorry if all my posts are getting spammy, I just have a bunch of projects going right now.)

This is drum pattern data taken from the patternarium, parsed and put into a code module to send triggers out. It is a little janky, but it works. I may or may not build an actual shareable patch with this, but I wanted to share some kind of out side the box usage for these modules. My build process is actually running a python script that converts the .mtpreset into a .drmodule, which I run in bulk. The idea being that if you have a whole bunch of data that needs to get into your rack, you don’t need to do it by hand. I have racks for three presets built, but the video below is only one of them:

(Obviously, it wouldn’t be the same without the drum synth presets as well.)

oh, just in case whoever is reading this doesn’t”t know what the patternarium is, check it, it”s so bad ass:
<div data-embedjson="{"body":"Patternarium is an online collaborative rhythm generator.

a while ago I saw a discussion on here about remaking the iOS plugin sector in Drambo. I thought it would be a fun project so I gave it a shot. Long story short, I didn’t get anywhere near Markov chain randomization. Instead I just am dividing the loop into 8 chunks, in which each slice can be shifted by plus or minus 5. Then I made some rough play fx which are just triggered randomly. I don’t think I am going to finish this project, so I am not going to upload it to patch storage. I do however offer it up here to anyone who would like to try it or maybe carry the torch forward.

(The flexisampler is expected to be sliced into 32, and I do not know if my sample was exported with the rack, you might need to add your own.)

After all, I think it's no secret where the main inspiration for the Drambo sequencer comes from.

From tests so far, Drambo hosted in AB3 syncs very well to the OT, great news! I doubt hosting in AUM3 would have as good sync.

I'm sure I won't be the only OT + Drambo user who wants to map the Scene switches on the OT to the Morph/Scene pads in Drambo, but this needs a midi remapping solution as Drambo requires separate CCs or notes to select each of the 16 variations. AFAIK, this is what's needed:

A script to remap CCs 55 and 56 values 0-15 to the same set of 16 notes, but also allow CCs 55 and 56 thru to switch between the 2 scene select buttons in Drambo.

Mozaic and StreamByter are available as plugins in AB3. I’ve never had a programming lesson and was very slow with my attempts with both! Midifire is straightforward, but unfortunately not available as a plugin in AB3. Is anyone up for scripting this in Mozaic or Streambyter? If not, I'll have to get my head down. (I bought Mozaic for remapping OT scene switches to a Nord G2, but then built an efficient patch in the G2 excluding the need for the iPad between the OT and G2.)

OT & Drambo = radical possibilities.... hope others diving in to this combo will chime in.

You need Koala Sampler for this preset. It’s all wired up and there are three audio unit slots per output with post effects after the mixer. The only thing you need to remember is that you have to assign a sample inside of Koala to a specific output if you don’t want them all coming out on the main and going through the same main effects chain.

I’m putting together a rack to trigger a sliced loop in a flexi, with as much hands=on control as I can get into it. It’s already doing some really nice things, but I’m running into a couple of walls, too.

Right now I’m working only with the first 8 slices of a loop, ideally cut into 8th notes. You can have longer sequences with those 8 slices, probably I’ll make a 16 step version, once everything works the way I like, although with all the options to manipulate the sequence, maybe 8 is plenty.

The heart of it is a cv sequencer that’s set to 8 steps that evenly rise from 0 to 1. That signal is fed into 8 graphic shapers, each set to 0 all the way except for one eighth which is up to one, so when you let sequencer run, you get a gate for each of the steps. Those gates trigger note generators, that I’ve set to the notes triggering the first eight slices of a flexi. All note generators run into a midi mixer.

To clock the sequencer, I put a layers switch in and connected that to the gate input on the sequencer. On the first layer, I just copied the sequencer, I’ve gotten already, for a forward sequence, on other layers freely edited sequencers, differently clocked Random LFOs, or a Saw LFO for polyrhythm in synced mode and up to audio rate chaos in free mode. It’s pretty fun already to switch those clocksources with p=locks. The random LFOs are great for fills.

The first problem I have is if the same note is supposed to be triggered twice in a row, it doesn’t work. I guess there is a note-off message missing. Any advice, on how I can make that happen?

I also put a (cv) retrigger module triggered an controlled by a xy=Pad in there that is kind of fun. What I would still like to have is a way to trigger playback from a specific step onwards, as long, as I hold a button or XY=Pad, and skips back to the position of the clock set in the layers switch. The closest I got to this is with an xy-pad connected to a shift time module. With spring on and modulation depth to -.25, I can skip back up to a beat, but I can’t just pick any of the slices, which would be cool. I would love some input on that.

I’ll clean the patch up a little and upload it here.

Hello Drambo users,

I finally figured out how to control 2 things with 1 slider with a neat ninja move.

Been doing that trick with shift register for quite some times but finally resolved the puzzle to make it catch value instead of jump. Scratched my head quite a bit.

Fader is divided into top half and bottom half. Quickly jumping across middle slider position register top/bottom position before racing thru and allow to control other half. Crossing again registers value of that other half and allow to take control of other half when reaching previously registered position.

Adjust slew to your taste/skill.

Just map first slider to your controller and have a look at the oscilloscopes at the end to figure it out.

A single module that does that would be awesome @giku

enjoy!

Two “Musical Idea Machines” templates to quickly sketch out some beats or enjoy a simple jam. Thanks go to Synth Seeker whose YouTube video inspired me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJ5uO7xjPek

Both templates use the Main track as transposition track. Use it to sequence key changes etc.

“Musical Idea Machine 2” offers eight instrument tracks (Pluck, Soft Pluck, Bass, Pad, Lead, Kick, Snare and Hats) plus an Automation track and two sends (Chorus/Delay and Reverb).

“SequencerGalore” makes use of sub tracks. Best to simply press play, have a listen and look at the demo sequences to see how things work. Each synth (red and green) gets the mixed output of three sequencer tracks. Use sequences of different lengths to create evolving patterns. “Blue” is just a single lead synth track.

The individual synth tracks of the templates contain additional quantiser and transposition modules that can help to manually add more variation while jamming.

Hello, Drambonauts!

I have been looking for a controller that would fit Drambo perfectly for a long time. But as I understand it does not exist))) So I set myself the idea of creating it.

I have already conducted several experiments and failed.

I do not have programming skills, because of this there are difficulties. But I have 3D modeling skills and can make a case for printing on a 3D printer. Perhaps there are the same enthusiasts here as me and we will join forces?

Or maybe someone has already made a similar device?

Seems like the documentation has lagged far behind the software, am I right?

I surely would understand if that's the case...I just want to stop looking for it if everyone knows that documenation doesn't exist.

The manual seems like it's still at version 1.1 even thought we're now at Drambo 2.2 (see https://www.beepstreet.com/public/downloads/Drambo%20manual.pdf)

A few of the modules have some detailed explanations, but, for at least half of them, the text reads "No module help yet."

The AudioBus wiki has a list of module, last updated Feb '20, but no links where one can find instructions on how to use or connect them.

The Drambo Cookbook is a great idea, but is little more than an outline at this point (see https://wiki.audiob.us/doku.php?id=drambo_cookbook).

Seems like we need to rely on the numberous videos out there, which are great but often gloss over what know X and Y actually do.

Am I missing something?

FAQ

Why?

Well, because. I’ve been studying the I Ching https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Ching for over 3 decades, it is a great introspection tool and a real book of knowledge. It’s the book of changes, and learning to accept and live (and grow) with life’s changes is the greatest knowledge of all. The only certainty about life is that it changes 🤷🏻‍♂️

I did my 1st i ching app back on pyS60. FF to 2016 I did a pythonista version, with all info, clickable characters for meaning, etc. Worked great until I upgraded phone. Then the throw of the coins part stopped working (basically a game loop with simple vector graphics) and I don’t feel like fixing it for now (might as well rewrite it as a webapp or something)

Anyway it still works perfectly for the reading of the texts, the full database of translations I have in there, just not the casting of an hexagram part.

So I thought, why not build an hexagram caster in drambo?

Turned out to be a great learning experience

How?

Press a pad, or the Chinese character for “change” (易) to have the lines of the hexagram appearing

If you’re actually using it to perform a reading, there’s two empty taps first cause I can’t figure how to use the shift register like it only had 6 registers. But never mind, don’t look at the screen, keep tapping until you feel that’s it. Then read your hexagram lines 6 to 1 descending (the hexagram is cast from the bottom up, so first line you draw, will shift to the 6th position on the further right and should be the bottom line of your hexagram)

If you feel like it, try asking a question, post a screenshot of the result and I’ll provide the texts with the interpretation (works better if you take it seriously, but of course there’s nothing magical about it, it’s just a brain teaser)

Feel free to change what’s inside the “Sound” rack

I wanted it to do chords, I fear I’m not using that many to poly correctly, but that’s what I got so far

There’s also some help I could use with the reset button, that currently does nothing. It’s supposed to set all 8 of the shift register values to 0, but I tried several things and there must be a simple solution I’m missing

Anyway, hope you enjoy, and any suggestions for improvement are welcome
