I'm getting the most interesting plucky sounds by automating the spread of the Unison module using a fast envelope and then dialing in the feedback of the operator module. Some of it sounds like when you pluck a string hard and it buzzes right at the attack. With longer decay times you can get more noisy drum like sounds that still resonate a tone on the release. Trying different envelope depths and voice numbers on the Unison module are also interesting. It's like my favorite new sounds right now.

Hello!

I have an Alen Heat Xone K2 controller. When setting up with drambo I encountered some difficulties.

1. The button backlight does not work when pressed. I noticed the same thing on launch control.

2. The top row of encoders has infinite adjustment. When I assign this encoder to switch layers, when I turn it, it turns on either the first layer or the last one. A regular encoder allows you to switch layers smoothly.

3. The controller has three layers with flexible settings. I can choose what will change when switching layers - encoders/faders/buttons or all together. But in Drumbo mapping only works in the all together mode. Although I did not notice such a problem in other applications.

Xone K2 is a cool controller! It has a built-in sound card on board and the ability to connect several devices together. I paired it well with the djay pro app. And I would like to use it with drambo.

Does anyone have any thoughts on how I can solve these problems?

All solutions seem to have the same issue where if you turn a modulator ‘on’ for a step, say a button or knob, then you have to p-lock it ‘off’ before it can register as another gate.

I’m working a sub bass / 808 thing were you the note might extend quite a long time, and I want to trigger envelope modulations without any midi trigger.

It was a little bit tricky!

First either the standalone Radio Unit nor the auv3 in Drambo could connect to my lokal Icecast Server.

So the problem seems to be, that ios asks you to allow the connection to the lokal network after Radio Unit tries to connect itself.

In the network settings of ios, Radio Unit was allowed, but without result. Drambo instead, didn‘t appear, even that I tried to start the icecast connection with the auv3 of Radio Unit in Drambo.

To allow Drambo the connection to the lokal network, I startet webdav in the Drambo settings.

But even then no results, although vlc mediaplayer could get this connection with the same parameters (http://192.xxx.xxx.xx:8000/stream) and without problems from the first trial to connect vlc to the icecast server.

I deinstalled Radio Unit. Reinstalled, tried it several times by deleting the new icecast station in Radio Unit and creating it again.

After perhaps three times suddenly it was connected!

Conclusion: in regard to the vlc mediaplayer, it would be nice to prove the code, to make it easier to connect Radio Unit with the lokal network.

so long, Bernhard

Hey everyone,

I tried to ask about it on a Facebook group, but got no answers so far.

I'm trying to map controller steps/cells to midi buttons (i have a controller with 16 sequencer style buttons, but the problem also persists on any controller I tried to map). What I want to achieve is:

I click the button on a controller

Last played note appears in or disappears from corresponding and mapped sequencer cell (like using it with a finger in drambo or any hardware seq

I enter the mapping mode, map the sequencer cells and it doesn't work. I can only put one note after another in a record mode, but after the second note is being placed it's doing something weird - selects next cell, deletes another one and acts generally unpredictable.

I've seen videos of midi controllers being mapped to drambo sequencer and working as expected, so I know it's technically possible, but I don't understand what is happening and what I'm missing.

I'm able to edit my controller buttons to work in toggle/gate mode, to send cc or notes on a channel of my liking. Is there a specific type of midi input that will make the sequencer mapping work?

Thanks for any feedback and tips. If necessary, I can provide the video of what is happening in drambo when I press previously mapped buttons. Cheers!

Hi everyone. Newbie here.

I am discovering the basic UI tricks of Drambo. And I need a clarification.

(I hope I will use the right terms. Please correct me, if needed)

Odysseyi app does not exist as a AUv3 plugin. So I launch it in parallel to Drambo, enable its « background audio » setting and set its MidiIn to 2.

In Drambo, in track 1 of my project, I add a Midi Output pointing at Odysseyi channel 2. Now I can control my Odysseyi from Drambo.

Then my Drambo project has more tracks, and I am used to mute/solo a given track with the swipe up/swipe down gesture (that track then appears in purple or black or dark grey, corresponding to its « status » : solo/normal/mute).

Unfortunately, that gesture has no real action on the Oddyseyi track, and I always hear the ARP sound, whatever the « status » of the track in Drambo.

Is there a way to mute the Odyssei from Drambo ?

PS: I also have an issue that the « Master »knob of my track 1 (:the one at the top right corner) does not change the sound level of the Odysseyi. I wonder if both issues can be corrected with a proper setup of my track 1.

It's a modular control surface. A perfect pairing for a modular music app right? The reason I find it so useful is you can have any number of controls from different tracks all visible at the same time. Mixer volume and sends, macros on each of the tracks, buttons that trigger graphic envelopes or whatever else, all available on one page. It enables you to spend more time controlling things and less time traveling between tracks. If you enable Assistive Touch on your iPad settings you can bounce between TouchOsc and Drambo with greater ease than double tapping the home button.

Here's my incomplete control surface. The buttons at the top trigger send knobs. The faders below those are a macro on each track. The faders labeled below those are my reverb and delay controls and the buttons at the bottom are going to be scene triggers. It's really fun having full control on one screen. My mutes/solos and volume are on a Nanokontrol at the moment. Everything I need all super compact and no paging. Oh yeah and I dig how they can be the size I want. Nice large controls.

Using Unison set to 2 and spreading the pan like this makes your synth into 2 synths panned left and right that can each have their own settings. The spread knobs above in the envelope and filter modules let you set the difference between the left and the right. I just thought it was super cool.

Hey All! Recent Drambo convert here. I’m in love with the workflow and it’s slowly becoming the center piece of my music creation. I wanted to share what I’ve learned in trying to do Mid Side processing and also get some advice on improving it!

I currently have a mid side rack which has a Stereo to L/R followed by the add and subtract math modules to get the mid and side out of it. I then have racks within the rack to process each path independently and then recombine on the other side with more math modules and an L/R to stereo. This is working ok, but immediately out of the gate colors the sound more then I would like. When you then add a few peaking eqs into the mix even before tweaking the settings it’s colored even more.

This isn’t a huge deal for creative sound design, but I was hoping to use the technique in an all Drambo mastering chain I’m cooking up. is this inherent to the Drambo audio engine? It sounds like subtle phase issues. I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences. I can upload some audio and patch examples later as well!

I'm a fan of stripped down things that are super powerful and this is a great example. For the longest time I would use only 1 modulator for most my sounds and if I felt the need to go beyond that I'd go overboard and use 3-4 but 2 is the sweet spot.

A trick I picked up on how to make feedback type sounds without actually using feedback.

The Scale module mixes the voice with an Offset that is being modulated at audio rate. Lowering the Amount knob allows the modulated voice to break through more resulting in what sounds like feedback. With the Saturation maxed out the modulated voice ends up only being audible on the edges of the cycle which has an unusual sound.

Also worth noting is the Pulse Width Modulation that's achieved by raising and lowering the Offset amount.

If you use Wavetable with a very small pulse width to ring mod a sample you can get all kinds crackle sounds that still support the same frequency. By moving the phase of the osc or the Offset of the sample you can find all kinds of buzzes. Does work on melodic sounds too but I find it really interesting as part of drum sounds. Makes me think of how a snare can buzz if it vibrates.

Below I'm mixing the crackle sound with a Sine so you can hear it's frequency.
