MIDI learn for step buttons

edited December 2020 in Feature Wish-lists

I would like to be able to set each of the 16 step buttons via MIDI note events. Is that possible? If not, this would be a very useful feature to program the step sequencer via hardware pads/buttons/keys.

  • That has been requested several times and I'm sure it's on the list.

It's a feature consisting of two parts:

    1. Mapping up to 128 step buttons to be toggled and/or held from a MIDI controller sending note messages
    2. Sending back configurable note messages to make the equivalent pad LEDs light up on the controller: Green for note(s) only, red for p-locks, yellow for both.

I have an APC Mini and a Launchpad Mini, each with 64 LED pads/buttons just waiting here for that feature.

Cannot say when this will be done, maybe @giku can say a word about it.

  • For LED feedback, you would also need a setting where the user can tell Drambo which velocity value triggers which colour on your midi controller.

Different controllers use different velocity numbers for different colours. The user just has to test it or find the programmers guide for their midi controller.

  • Yeah, that would get Drambo closer to hardware like experience for sure.
