Crash Report!

Hi! I need to show you the ball of yarn I have to untangle when I start up.

I basically have to start 5 times, then everything works. I do not know why, exept AR 909 might have a part in it. This 909 is great, I cant part with it, I am wondering if there is a way to see if there is a way to help it load in drambo. In the video you will see

-Ableton link missing with 1 BPM. I have to manually adjust.

-Drambo freezing 4 times before being stable. AR 909 freezing, and multiple audio units mot loading

I also get freezing when loading and saving.

The quirks in the video are very stable, the same stuff happens every time, leading me to belive i might be fixed, as it ends up running stable about the fifty loadup. Anybody have the same sity with similar apps, do you recognize it?

I would very much like to keep working this way

Comments

  • Would be helpful to know what device and iPadOS version is being used...

  • In the early attempts in your video, I see a weird grey rectangle with a checkbox popping up before Drambo starts.

I've never seen that before, what is it?

  • I believe that’s

a popup confirming a shortcut or accessibility setting thats confirming the action was successful

  • Hi samu. I am on a M1 12.9. Are those known to be problematic?

I would like to keep working this way, but starting over and over is bugging you kno.

Is there a place I should submit Crashes? I do Enjoy the 12.9 and Drambo

WHere do I submit crash reports? I pretty much crash everytime i tart up.

It freezed twice in a row when selecting tempo sync

Also after 10 min Funk Drummer looses Start/Stop sync, I dont remember having that issue with Loopy

These crashed are as constant thing on 12.9 M1.

Check to be sure that Funk Drummer isn't receiving MIDI clock In and isn't sending MIDI clock out if you're using Link. Also, be aware that iPadOS may suspend Funk Drummer when it's in the background if it's running low on memory or other resources. That's beyond Drambo's control. In fact, any problems you see with Funk Drummer are beyond Drambo's control. Drambo doesn't have any connection to Funk Drummer. It runs Ableton Link, but that's just a protocol for keeping time. It's blind to other apps other than if they change the tempo or start / stop.

As for the tempo mismatch, that could be Drambo's problem, or it could be Funk Drummer's. One of them isn't reading or setting the tempo properly. I think that's a Drambo issue because I see it even when Funk Drummer isn't loaded. That seems like something @giku might be interested to look into.

Oh, and be sure that Link and MIDI clock are completely off in Loopy Pro. That could be gumming things up.

If all else fails, you might try using MIDI clock rather than Link to sync Funk Drummer. It might be worse, or it might be better. There's only one way to find out.

As for AR-909 ... that one is buggy in other hosts too. It's abandonware, so I wouldn't expect it to get any better, unfortunately. Sometimes resizing the window will make it redraw its interface when it doesn't load right, but other times it just doesn't output sound. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Testing with AUM, on reloading a project that has AR-909 in it, the app first loads with the sequencer not displaying right and no sound coming from it. Resizing the window makes it start displaying right, but no sound comes from AR-909. The only way I can get sound out is by loading the app fresh. I can't get it to load from a saved session in AUM or in Drambo.

Testing in Loopy Pro: AR-909 seems to display properly on reload, but there's never any sound coming from AR-909 when it's loaded from a saved session. The only way to get sound is to reload the app.

I think you're barking up the wrong tree as far as AR-909 goes. It doesn't work right anywhere, at least without a reload every time, which means you also have to remember to save a preset and recall it or you lose all your settings. I don't think there's anything that Drambo can do to make a buggy plugin work right.

I tried for years to get a particular bug fixed with no luck.

  • Thanks a lot, I'll take a look at this

  • Always get AR 909 to load in other apps, i just have to change the preset and then audio is working. No crashes etc.

but ok we can all collectively say goodbye and try to let go of that app to that even if its hard. Also wrote them alot.

    thank you mr 37.

clock sync works with Funk drummer, only loads with one bpm off sometimes.

something that could be fixed is that ot stoppa connecting to it after 5 minutes, sompressing play in drambo wont start it. In loopy it stays synced with start stop forever. Reloading and reatarting is a bummer, I’ll let to of AR 909 if y’all wont have a look?

thanks for looking in Giku, much reapect

  • I get cascade crashes of AU apps.

    Loopy. Woodtroller. Midi tape recorder.

Its annoying because loopy is channel routed for multiout audio.

    Why it might be Drambo.

It repeats exactly ( cascade wise ) on relaunch of a save.

Also theres all the ghost AU and fx boxes that launch, even if they were removed from Drambo project.

Thats perhaps been noted right ? All the ghosting ( blank boxes ) of previous au and au fx etc.

Its the latest IOS but obviously the ghost boxes were part of a Drambo update ( Im not sure when that update were issued though ) iv been away from ipads for a while and only recently updated Drambo.
