The MI oscillators in general benefit from an AMP envelope module after them.
The Chiptune oscillator is quite fun, bump up Decay to max and you one-finger chords.
Modulate the 'gate' with alternate clock-signal to trigger the built-in arpeggiator etc.
Excuse my ignorance, what is the chiptune engine? Are we talking some drambo preset I missed? MiRack? VCV?

I get that I can add an ADSR but isn’t it supposed to have its amp decay envelope? It’s the only engine that just screams at you when you select it.
Agreed. It should follow the same concept.
On the other hand, chiptune OSC has chord mode in Decay=max and you couldn't do a sustain with decaying sound then.
The only working change I could imagine would be to add yet another mode at the upper end of Decay range: INF+CHRD
