MacOS drambo? (SIP problem)
So. Because of apple policies, i get a situation where i can choose to use drambo on mac os, or use yabai window manager with it's full functionality.
(You can not launch ipadOS version of drambo on sip disabled apple silicon macs, neiter standalone or auv3 plugin version).
Didn't find any solutions to that.
One thing that slightly works is using sideloadly on standalone version of drambo, but in this case you need unencrypted (pirated) IPA file. Which is not ideal.
Any possibility of releasing dedicated macos binary of drambo? (or maybe separate au plugin).
I just want to make a sketch on ipad, then contunue in ableton with the same drambo and same controller. While not loosing my macos customizations.

I've stopped disabling SIP about 2 years ago. On older Macs that was a good thing to do (ignoring security risks) but I've switched to codesigning apps to make them work. It won't work for all apps out there but at least it does for the open source apps that I need.
I've just read on the github page that "System Integrity Protection can be (partially) disabled for yabai to inject a scripting addition into Dock.app for controlling windows with functions that require elevated privileges. This enables control of the window server, which is the sole owner of all window connections, and enables additional features of yabai.".
I'm personally fine with what I can customize in MacOS window management, but which yabai features are unavailable with SIP enabled?
For me it’s mostly about the feeling of ownership and control of my computer.
With SIP enabled, yabai still does the basic tiling stuff, so it’s not like it becomes useless.
But the parts that make it feel truly native to my workflow are the things you lose: proper space management, direct/ flexible switching between spaces, some window-server level tweaks, window transparency, animation-related tweaks, and similar quality-of- life stuff.
The space switching part is especially annoying. Once you fall back to standard macOS behavior, you’re back to watching the usual slow distracting desktop/space animations instead of the snappy control you get with full yabai functionality. It’s not catastrophic, but it does make the whole system feel more rigid and less like my own computer than I’d like.
And yes, I fully realize these are not exactly deep existential problems, more like white-people-problems x10.
So I’ll completely understand if nothing comes out of this. I just wanted to put the issue on the forum, because it is a real workflow friction point - for at least some of us.
