Weird note behavior in piano roll with select and undo buttons

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open new project.
  2. On any track insert a note (or a chord) into the step sequencer by tapping on a step.
  3. Open the piano roll.
  4. Activate the Select/Operation button.
  5. Select your note(s).
  6. Press the Clear/Undo button. The selection will clear but the notes stay.
  7. Select your note(s) again.
  8. Press the Clear/Undo button again. The notes will disappear from the piano roll but they will still be visible in the Step sequencer, the Multitrack Step Sequencer editor and the Extended step sequencer editor. This should not happen. I expect one of the following options to happen:
    1. The selection should once more clear and the notes stay or
    2. the notes would disappear when the Clear/Undo button was pressed the first time.
  9. Additional observations (not shown in the linked video): If a MIDI monitor module is placed into the track afterward and you press play, it detects the notes. If an instrument rack or an AU instrument is placed into the track and connected the instrument apparently doesn't receive the MIDI data since no sound is produced.

There's more bugs I encountered while in the piano roll but I'm still trying to find steps to reproduce them consistently.

  • iPad 5th gen. running iPadOS 16.7.11 (20H360) and Drambo v2.51(3)
  • iPhone 11 running iOS 18.7.1 (22H31) and Drambo v2.51(2)

    @giku, I managed to expose this particular bug even more. Please see linked video (will expire after 2 days).

    Steps to reproduce (the first part is pretty much the same):

    1. Open new project.
    2. Insert an instrument rack and activate some preset.
    3. Insert a note into the step sequencer (step 5 for example).
    4. Open the piano roll.
    5. Activate the Select/Operation button.
    6. Select your note.
    7. Press the Clear/Undo button. The selection will clear but the note stays.
    8. Select your note again.
    9. Press the Clear/Undo button again. The note will now disappear from the piano roll it will still be visible in the Step sequencer.
    10. Now draw the selection again around the same area (where the note used to be).
    11. Drag the selection to the left or to the right. The note will now appear again (as if it's linked to the selection somehow). If you're careful when you dragged the selection left or right - so that the note/selection didn't move up or down at all - then you get a bonus effect. See next step.
    12. Tap the Play button.
    13. Observe how the note is silent - the instrument rack doesn't respond.
    14. Stop playback.
    15. Now move your selection with the note up or down so it changes pitch.
    16. Tap the Play button again.
    17. Observe how the instrument rack now detects the note and you hear sound.

    I'm on it.

    btw. UNDO pressed alone undoes, only combo action clears. (but it should disappear in this case, because it was the last op)

    the case with MIDI monitor and AUv3 instrument, I don't see the video anymore, but I guess you placed MIDI Monitor after AUv3 and it got autoconnected to AUv3 receiving it's events.

    Undo was always pressed alone here. I didn’t ever hold another button and then press Undo at the same time or vice versa.

    Regarding the MIDI monitor: I used it before even adding the instrument. Only after observing it was recieving MIDI notes did I add the instrument to test whether it will respond to the notes. And I didn’t add an AUv3 instrument but Drambo’s instrument rack and used the first factory preset.

    If you watch the 2nd video (still available), you’ll notice in steps 11, 12 & 13 that I tested this “ghostly” character of the note. Only after moving it up or down did the instrument respond to it. In this 2nd test I didn’t use a MIDI monitor though.

    This bug is still present in 2.52(6) ... Is there a particular reason why it wasn't considered even after you wrote "I'm on it"?

    It's in the queue and will be fixed in one of upcoming versions.
