Control Tempo with MIDI controller (fader) ?

I want to map a fader on my MIDI controller so that I can change Drambos tempo and have some fun with speeding up or slowing down while playing.

Currently I am using the both elegant and ugly workaround to control the speed of an LFO with the MIDI controller and let the square from the LFO generate a MIDI CC that is sent via MIDI feedback back to Drambos control port. Now I can map this CC to Tap Tempo. It works but I wonder if there is a more direct approach.

I notice when I tap on the tempo in MIDI mapping mode a window with mappable settings shows up. The top left one looks like it's the BPM rate but it's only half visible on the screen. I was able to map it but did not change the tempo.

    Thank @bcrichards for unintentionally providing the solution: I’ll use the transport module!

    I love it that after years of using and enjoying Drambo there are still hidden gems to discover and new stuff to learn.
