Using only the Drambo logo as a texture source, used Shader Repeat, then fed into a 3D Shader rack with some Blur, and the 3D Mask's Texture Extrude preset. All available in Drambo Visual with no code written, manipulated, or vibed.
Good question! Full screen, with the adaptive aspect ratio and 1:1 resolution, it was dipping down into the low 20s (possible) depending on what was happening at the time on the projector.
At a smaller projector window size though, I'd say just under a 1/4th of the screen, it was a much smoother 60FPS (103 possible)
Bebop melody generator that has utterly consumed me for the last 3 months, I keep waiting for Drambo to throw its hands up and crumple, but somehow it just never happens. Far and away the best music software I've ever used, thanks Giku.
Just posted on your Loopy Pro forum post that this is more like the type of thing I’m interested in making rather than the regular type of shader patterns. Thanks for sharing.
@giku, I wonder whether it’s technically achievable to have a very clever module which would allow you to draw freehand (with the Pencil or finger) and have the shape drawn internally translated into shader code? Could the xy coordinates of a drawing (or even a single drawn line) on a grid be translated in that way? So, for example, if @Intrepolicious wanted to hand draw the flower heads or leaves in his meadow, this hypothetical module could offer a way to do that?
On a related note, it does seem a shame to me that there is no role for the Apple Pencil in the new Visual extension generally.
Thanks @bleep. Yes, I’m well aware of all the other apps and have them all. I have Feather as well as Mental Canvas and they are both fine apps. There are also excellent apps for hand drawn and vector based animation such as Toonsquid, Rough Animator and Procreate Dreams.
My point in making the suggestion to @giku was to make Drambo Visual as good and, importantly, as accessible as possible. A module that allowed some hand drawn interaction would be very useful, with many creative possibilities but it could also be an ‘in’ to the non technically minded into the world of shaders. With the wealth of shader based apps released recently - Drambo Visual, VS2, Lucinate - any features which differentiate one from the others could also prove beneficial? Just because there are plenty of apps for hand drawing things, doesn’t mean you can’t innovate and bring that element into the shader world.
Anyway, just a suggestion…my suggestions are usually ignored so no biggie!
It’s a good suggestion, would be cool to have some kind of pencil support. Perhaps your experience with these other apps could be a source of finding what could work in the Drambo Visual context.
Regarding pencil support, I agree, a specialized input module offering a small drawing pad or tablet as and input would be very helpful to have.
Maybe we can put this on a wishlist for @giku for a future Drambo Visual update?
Also, don't think this hasn't already been thought of; on the topic of hand drawn input, it was discussed a bit during beta testing. Of course he had a million different things to get right.
There is a way to "draw" currently. Now this isn't Apple Pencil support, not even close, but we do have the XY pad. I have a project (I'll have to dig it up and polish it up a bit) but it's a "Water color painting" visual project, and it uses just that; the XY pad for input, of course X and Y control the brush coordinates, and the Gate function provides the "start painting", with a graphic envelope controlling the "ink/paint pressure". So when you place your finger or stylus on the XY pad, it'll start painting, and the longer you keep your finger on, the more paint that flows (envelope controlled)

😍
Guys finally having some time to check these beautiful things.

Wow! I love it
Thanks for participating!
Working on some old school oscilloscope effects
And more dithering fun
Nice Ben! Keep em coming! @bcrichards
Should I move this thread to a generic Visual subcategory?
Absolutely 😊

@Intrepolicious very interesting approach and great results. Gotta try it myself.
how many fps can you get?

Full
About a 1/3 size window actually

Sweet! @gravitas Love those colors!
Sweet indeed @gravitas . Getting steam punk vibes

Cool @micro64 🙂
I don't have any help to offer; only encouragement! I look forward to hearing this Bebop Melody generator!
Thank you! Hopefully it won't take another 3 months to finish 😐️
Screenshot of "MIDI Meadow" (flowers grow and bloom from incoming MIDI notes) - will post project file soon; still refining.

@Robin there are specialized apps for 3D drawing, also with pencil support. Take a look at this one, for instance: https://www.feather.art/
I am sure it comes with its own set of complexities … but it looks good. Also clearly a whole different product.

This is very cool.
That looks lovely!! You keep on surprising 🤩
Thanks guys, @Robin , @gravitas, @pedro and @bleep
