Sequencing Ableton Live from Drambo

Hi folks,

Is it possible to sequence Ableton Live using Drambo? If yes, how would I go about doing that?

I really love being able to use p-locks and Dramo's sequencer but I would like to be able to use Ableton Live and desktop plugins for sound generation

  • Tap on each track's header, scroll down to "MIDI OUTPUT (EXTERNAL) and choose the MIDI port that Live is connected to.

I like to use Bluetooth MIDI so I can still walk around while the desktop produces sound.

  • That's great! Got it working now, thanks. Actually it also works over the wifi network which is cool because I can walk around the room and compose

My next task is to map some knobs in Drambo to Macro knobs in Ableton racks

  • How about sequencing Ableton from a Drambo AUv3 instance hosted inside Ableton? I can’t get Drambo to output any MIDI.

  • Answering my own question: Audio Units can’t output MIDI in Ableton.

  • I had asked Ableton about this when auv3 were in beta. It's not in scope for them. Ableton team doesn't understand midi from.vsts either (since all multichannel midi is merged into a single channel), so I'm not holding out hope.

I hope Bitwig adds auv3 support because midi routing will actually work.

  • Bitwig don't support platform-specific formats like auv3 or even au.

  • Yeah, true, wishful thinking.
