Looking to complete and share a multi FX rack for drums. Anyone nailed a dedicated flanger module they’re proud of, and willing to share? 🤔🙏
There’s one in beta :) but I think @rs2000 might have cooked one up already?
The new flanger in the beta sounds very good. No reason to build one. And the official v1.3.2 is probably around the corner.
Ahh that’s great news! Thanks, as always, for coming back to me 😊
On the topic of mod effects, I wonder if Giku would be willing to implement negative feedback on the phaser module? Kind of like how it’s implemented on the waveguide + comb.
You're my hero! 🤩
Please add modulation for dry/wet
Couldn't that be achieved with an x-fader and the phaser set full wet?
Yeah, it can but having the dry/wet being modulatable right there is much simpler.
assign keyfollow with positive modulation to phaser
assign keyfollow with negative modulation to flanger
= high keys get phaser, low keys get flanger :)
If I remember correctly, adding modulation inputs will add to cpu load - otherwise, every knob would have a mod input ... right @giku?
All the other fx have a modulatable dry/wet ;)
Can’t be wild
I always thought that the main reason for the lack of more mod inputs is/was the knob positioning (fine for first column of knobs, but can be nasty UI wise for the rest). That’s been addressed in some of the latest modules. I understand that it will cost but still, we should modulate in a modular. Everything, or what makes sense... I heard a puppy dies every time you touch a decay without a triangle next to it...
I’ve found similar modulation limitations for the Drum FX Rack I was looking to build. I intended to only expose X/Y pads and Bypass Switches in the final compacted rack but found some of the parameters unavailable. Some effect modules also have no possibility to bypass the effect with a switch.
The list below has some examples of the X/Y mods I was looking at:
Effect = X/Y
Flanger = Speed/Width
Phaser = Freq/Width
Chorus = Delay/Width
Filter = Freq/Q
Delay = Time/Feedback
As an aside that your post made me think of, it would be pretty cool if the X/Y pads had a 3rd output that sent a gate high when your finger was on it and gate low when not. Such that touching them could activate/deactivate a circuit.
You can mute/bypass any module by pressing mute and header of module
this is MIDI mappable
To give flexibility and to keep the workflow efficient, I was ideally looking for a switch to bypass each module in compacted mode.
Handy to know the method that works for the expanded mode though thanks 😊
Flanger just landed in the latest release.
Yes and it sounds excellent! 😊
I'd also like to add that the negative feedback on both the flange and Phaser sound fantastic. Really great for some alternative tones from a favorite effect. Thanks again boss!
I love the phaser in drambo
if u turn the feedback a little up it makes these nice formants and everything starts to sing. ❤️
all other phasers sound like plastic fast food. 🙉
Yeah, its one of my favorite fx modules too. I love feeding it impulses with high feedback so it self oscillates. Can create some really woody, almost tribal like percussion with it that way. The negative feedback allows all sorts of other percussive tones now. Can also create an eerie pad/lead with some filtered noise through an ADSR, and pitch controlling phaser freq.
Imo, the FAC Phazer is quite wonderful too. It responds pretty well to modulation in Drambo - and when self oscillating, also sounds brilliant with its own built in S&H lfo.
noise and phaser with no modulation is one of my favorite things too.
