I just never had youtube requiring me to sign in from an embedded video here before. But I read they’re pursuing more aggressive strategies (“do no evil”, yeah, right)
Yeah that force to sign in thing for embedded videos is going to alienate a lot of viewers, one, but also slash the amount of views the content creator could get. I wonder if we can embed Vimeo (Or other?) videos without that kind of thing?
@gravitas , could you help me understand your Latency Adjuster tool? (I wasn't sure whether to open a new thread, I hope it's ok to ask in here)
Part 1: I set up my project as follows: all internal iPad sound generation gets routed into a latency adjuster track, which hosts your preset. This latency adjuster track sends it output to the master track.
All tracks that control external gear (in my case: VSTs on a Windows machine) are directly sent to the master track.
Is this in itself correct?
Part 2: what attributes of your preset do I need to adjust for my setup? I set kHz and buffer size to the correct values, then test by recording a pattern that uses one internal and one external sound source with one-shot drum sounds firing at the same time (four on the floor).
"@gravitas , could you help me understand your Latency Adjuster tool? (I wasn't sure whether to open a new thread, I hope it's ok to ask in here)"
No probs.

Correct.

44100 is the sample rate and the 2nd number is the amount of samples that needs to be adjusted.
Yeah, that's how I do it and chose the amount of samples by using ear and seeing it in the recorded audio file.
Important thing to remember which is pan one sound hard left and the other hard right
and record the sound using Flexisampler on the Master Track to look at the difference in start point of the one shot drum sounds.
You should be able to see if there is a difference and internal sounds normally start before
the external sounds so add in the amount of samples to the internal sounds Track make them line up as accurately as possible.
it worked like a breeze. i tested with couple values, and 2000 it became.
now i can correct these couple projects where I wasn't yet sync'd. oh my.
drambo is quite amazing to me on its own, but with people with skills like yours, sharing their knowledge, really make it the best DAW i ever worked with <3
Repeatable as in the same algorithm doing the same exact math every time on a sample accurate basis? Sure, there’s not even problems with delays because each buffer should be processed well before being needed (with the cpu power we have at our disposal nowadays)
Hosted by Drambo (PurePiano, GeoShred, OneShot), and sequencing Ableton on my Windows machine (with Repro-5, MusicLab's RealLPC, several Spitfire orchestral libraries, and Tympo). You wouldn't want to listen to the version I had BEFORE latency-adjustment :))

I was referring the previous post but what’s this shit now with youtube forcing me to login. Has the whole internet turned evil?
Thank you.
As you can tell I'm getting back into my guitar playing.
It's still a bit ropey however it's getting there. ;)
The whole internet has gone a bit wierd in the last year.
I have a theory however my theory is a bit far out especially for this thread. ;)

Product placement.
The dRambo+Loopy Pro template is now available for download from my Ko-fi shop.
Here's the link.

End of advertisement.
As you were. ;)
"Do No Evil" was removed from their code of conduction 2018 :(

Here are the pricing plans for Vimeo with a list of which pricing plan offers what.

RIP.

😢😢
I've been a vimeo member for years and I find it so much more convenient than Youtube!
Youtube has turned into a monster advertisement platform on which ads have substantially replaced content from users 😅
It seems like the (fairly limited but ok for our use case) free accounts are also still available:
Other than the free accounts, I find that Vimeo deserves subscription much more than Youtube today.
I also prefer the quality of Vimeo over YouTube for sure.
Agreed, there are adverts over everything on YouTube which I don't mind to a certain degree
because the sound guys get revenue however adverts can get annoying.
I would be on Vimeo however I need incentive before I start a subscription.
Do they live stream?
@gravitas No idea, sorry, but why not create a free account and check out what you get?
https://help.vimeo.com/hc/en-us/articles/12425432518801-What-s-included-with-the-Free-plan#:~:text=A%20free%20plan%20on%20Vimeo%20limits%20you%20to%20a%20single,the%20plan%20unless%20you%20upgrade.
I've already got an account which has been dormant for quite awhile.
I'll dip my toe back in and see what happens.

Ah, what a smart thing to pan the audio. I'd never have thought of that. I'll play around with this, and see what I can achieve.
Thanks for your help!!!
No worries. :)
Tell me how you get on.
you sir @gravitas are amazing!!
it worked like a breeze. i tested with couple values, and 2000 it became.

It might be 2048, not 2000…
No worries.
It's dependant upon your rig.
The audio interface buffer is certainly going to be 128/256/512/1024/2048 however
when correcting for external and internal latency it's going to something else
because that's in addition to the audio Buffer Sample.
@gravitas I always end up going by ear in the end, and it isn’t going to be exact samples, of course there will be some cpu infinitesimal delay
I was merely poking fun cause 2000 is 48 less than a power of 2
The interesting thing with this is unless you add a plugin which has latency
or change the Buffer size the adjustments remain the same.
The results are repeatable.
Sorry dude, I'm crap at math.
Even my math is by ear.
Thanks for the explanation. :)
Repeatable as in the same algorithm doing the same exact math every time on a sample accurate basis? Sure, there’s not even problems with delays because each buffer should be processed well before being needed (with the cpu power we have at our disposal nowadays)
As in one doesn't have to calibrate for latency every time
the project file is opened up using current settings.
I think I get it. So you tune each project to any eventual plugin latency you need to compensate? Unless you always use the same
Exactly especially as not all apps report Plugin Delay Compenstation accurately.
MixBox for instance is lovely as an effect however it does add noticeable delay when instantiated.
Any effect that shows Lookahead will add latency for sure.
I normally switch off Lookahead unless it impairs the quality of the sound.
Dear @gravitas, I worked with your latency adjuster for several days now. I'm so happy about it!
I uploaded this track here: https://soundcloud.com/christianbazanthegemark/sunset

Wow, that's a great track Chris! 👏🏼
Really cool track.
The strings are a lovely touch, I really like the subtly of the drums coming.
Good use of dynamics which brings breathing space.
This certainly sounds like a sunset on a beach, timelapsed footage and all.
Wasn't expecting the guitar solo to come in (Geoshred ?), nice touch.
Agreed.
