Clip your random

edited December 2022 in Tips and Tricks

i just discovered this but if you run a random lfo into a clip module and you limit the range you get motion when the lfo is in that range but when its outside that range the signal is at the clip high or clip low. In practice this means you could have a pitch alternating between a high and low note and intermittently hitting a few notes between. Taking it even further if you use a second clip module on the same lfo and you clip that signal in a different range you could send that to a filter what you get is a filter that only changes when the pitch isn’t changing and vice verse, both alternating between a high and low state with a little random between. I thought it was pretty neat.

  • Nice idea!

I could imagine combining this with the CV quantizer and maybe the Graphic Shaper to draw more advanced clipping "curves" 😊
