2 modulators 1 carrier Fm

I'm a fan of stripped down things that are super powerful and this is a great example. For the longest time I would use only 1 modulator for most my sounds and if I felt the need to go beyond that I'd go overboard and use 3-4 but 2 is the sweet spot.

  • I like to put a mixer after the carrier also so that I can mix in the two modulators if I like.

  • Cool, thanks for sharing, but are you modulating anything? Just mixing 2 operators to modulate the carrier instead of 1, doesn’t seem to make much difference (I only did a quick test on iphone speakers, though). If you start modulating things, like op1 modulation op2, and the mixer modulating op3) then you can get some crazy timbers, but again I don’t see what’s the mixer bringing that a single operator modulated couldn’t also achieve.

    Maybe Im missing something

  • The above picture is just the patch in it default state. Something like this pic is more interesting. Sorry it's not cropped I was having technical issues.

  • The top mixer knob isn’t at 0. Might be hard to see. Its set very low.
