Play a random instruments with each note

edited October 6 in How to's

Hello, new member here!

I picked up Drambo a few days ago, and I've been trying to setup a way to use a random instrument each time I hit notes.

And I have somewhat succeeded with layers, but for that I've used a `Midi Note Generator`, and it would only send single notes to the instruments even when using chords :

But I don't really know what else to use...

Is there a better way to achieve this that would allow me to use chords? Thanks!

  • Your midi to cv is only 1 voice, maybe try and increase that?

    maybe try something like this:

load your auv3s and connect them to the outputs of your midi switch, the random gate input to the midi to CV gate output and Index to random.

if you tap on the top bar of the midi to CV module, you can disable „trigger overlapping notes“, which might help in case your playing chords.

when you want to play external instruments, there is no need to translate the midi data to CV and back to midi again - you can just route the midi data directly. The midi to CV module is only there to create a trigger for switching the output of the midi 1-N switch.
