Multi-voice instrument rack where different notes trigger different sounds
I’m trying to recreate the “sound pool” functionality on elektron sequencers. The way that works is you preselect some synth presets or samples into a shortlist, and then you can switch between them with a p-lock per step.
so, for example, I could have a bunch of different hi hat sounds, and switch between them on each step of a pattern while only using one track. Or I could keep my kicks and snares all on one track.
the way I’m thinking of doing this is by using a 1-n switch to route the gate signal to different instrument racks, each loaded with a preset. The I can p-lock the switch to switch sounds.
but, I noticed the sampler module can switch samples based on a given note, or zone of notes. Is there any way to replicate this functionality outside of the sampler module?

The most straight forward way is by using the Pitch module (found under Utilities) and the Sampler module.
You can then P-lock the octave and semi-tone knobs on the Pitch module.
If you need separation for the drum sounds etc then I would think
then it would be Flexisamplers or Sampler modules on different Layers and using switches.
I'm sure there are better ideas for this than I have.
Have you considered going the Octatrack way? Make a sample chain with all of your kicks, snares, etc. Slice m up in flexi and select either by offset or note input.
I can already use the sampler module to do this for purely sample based drums, I’m looking for a more flexible way to do it with synth based sounds.
i think I found a way to do it with a series of midi note filters. It’s a but clunky but not too bad when saved as a track preset.
Ahhh for synth based sounds?
There's something on the horizon that may be able to something similar to what you're asking.
If we're talking about synth presets that change various parameters but don't change the module layout or routing, scenes could help here.
You have up to 16 scenes, each can store another combination of knob positions and switching between scenes gives you uninterrupted sound changes like in elektron boxes.
P-locking scenes to steps would require enabling MIDI control of scene switches and using Drambo's MIDI loopback port.
Another option would be to use a number of morph knobs, one for each relevant synthesis parameter, and control these by switchable and p-lockable banks of knobs, faders and switches, not unlike the preset system in the vintage Yamaha CS-80.
Lots of modules, I know, but it would work.
@rs2000 I noticed that racks with a lot of morphs use significantly more CPU compared to modulating the same parameters with scenes. Have you ever experienced this?
Thanks for noticing! No, maybe I haven't had enough of them to experience the difference.
