Drambo fail to start on mac mini m2
Hej All,
I need help with this long time problem, please.
When I try to start Drambo on my mac mini, I get this error message:
Can't activate audio device (RemoteIO start error 0). Please restart Drambo.
After that the app is still running, but there is no sound.
Drambo was downloaded from the Apps store, and I have it running without any problem on my ipad pro.
Any ideas or tips, please?
Comments
More details please?
Sure, no problem. Any specific part you are interested in?
It's a Mac mini m2, I have dowloaded Drambo from the app store, under the same account I own on the ipad as well. When I try to start the app I get the following error message pop up in Drambo: Can't activate audio device (RemoteIO start error 0). Please restart Drambo.
Than I can only click OK. Drambo keeps open and seems to work except there is no sound coming from it. I can load tutorials and so, but no sound.
OK, I have tried many things, still no luck and same error.
I had items in my midi mapping app, in utilities, leftover from opz, m8 and woovebox. Cleaned all up, no change.
I had tried to disconnect everything from the mac, speakers, another screen, etc, no change.
Also tried to clean up my apps, in case there is some interference, no help.
And then latest update is in place for Sequoia, still same issue.
Many restarts in between.... any help would be appriciated or at least to know if it's working for someone on mac mini.
Tried installing Nanoloop IOS app on the mac mini m2 and it works without any issues. Sound, touch, everything is working.
Hi, it's very odd, I'm testing on the same osx version. I assume there is something unusual in your config, that Drambo is not ready for :)
Could you show me your sound settings? (like on attached screenshots)
Also: is the bluetooth on? Any accesibility options?
Hej giku, thank you for taking time to help.
I have a pair of stereo monitors connected to the headphone port of the mac mini. Bluetooth is on, but it's only a keyboard connected to it, no audio devices. No accesibility options are know to my knowledge.
Not sure if it helps at all, but I just bought Zeeon synth out of curiosity, to see if it works on the same machine, and it does. No error message and there is sound.
Thanks a lot.
Ok I see something, there is no audio input device and Drambo is probably not ready for that. aaarghhh
I will try to fix it asap.
Which INPUT you mean? There is no input device on my computer, see below:

much appriciated!
@hejluxom edited my answer in the meanwhile :) check it please
You are right! I just plugged in an iRig, so now there is an input device. After starting Drambo it asks if it can use the mic. After OK, Drambo starts, and there is no error message, and there is sound! Wow! :)
Thank you for figuring this out this fast, much appreciated! Any way to send you a golden star? :D
@hejluxom :) I'm preparing beta version and invite you soon. (I have no mac mini and there is no way to get rid of mbp audio mic)
One thing to try @hejluxom would be to connect a headset (TRRS or USB-C) to the MacMini as it will be detected as a mic-input.
Unfortunately I don't yet own a any 'Apple Silicone' MacMini (The M4 MacMini is tempting though) so I can't try...
