„Circular Fade“ (As opposed to X-Fade)

An idea:

basically an x fader with more than two inputs. An option for changing the window size (how many sound sources are audible at a time) would be handy too.

it doesn’t really fit the UI scheme of Drambo, but an endless knob for adjusting the widow position would be ideal.

cheers :)

  • With ‘Switch N-1’ module you can scan through many inputs.

Set mode to x-fade and feed index input with signal to select.

  • ...and connect input 1 also to input 4 so the last fade becomes seamless too when using a sawtooth LFO to modulate 😊

  • oh nice. Didn’t know the xfade option allows for gradual adjustments, but that makes sense.

    thanks!

  • Excuse my ignorance, but what do you mean by connect input 1 to input 4 and how is it done?

  • When you use a linear ramp to progressively go from output 1 to 3, you get an abrupt change from your third source back to the first. So when you add source 1 again to a fourth input, the transition will be smooth even though the ramp jumps back to 0 after one cycle

  • Thanks @prehm, that's what I meant to say 😉

  • Wouldn’t that make input 1 last twice as long compared to 2 and 3 dive you’re scanning thru it twice as long w the lfo?

No. Imagine four peaks. The curve starts and ends at a peak and there are no plateaus, so the curve goes up to peak four, loops back around and goes down from peak 1 again. (Ofc there are actually two interlaced curves, but the same thing applies - the end state is the same as the beginning, which is source 1 at max volume)

in principle source 1 will sound twice as long - but that moment is very short.
