I wish the FM operator would work in stereo. You can of course split a signal and then run it into two separate FM operators and then recombine, but it’s clunky and you miss some modulation ability to control both together.
Worth considering (poor CPU ;)
I would welcome a dual operator FM module too, if it contained multiple internal feedback paths between the two operators (see Digitone FM) so we're free to choose how to use them, be it dual OP with one audio channel or twin OP for doing stereo processing.
Combined with the upcoming Wavetable Oscillator module, that would add quite some expressiveness in a tiny package (although WT will already add lots of superpowers for itself 😊).
Moore's Law solves that problem!! 😂
There will be an FM oscillator with 4 operators and multiple algos. Just like in Digitone. (IAP)
Will it import TX81z SysEX files and include all the wonky waveforms too?
Or will it be more like the ReFace DX with per operator +/- feedback?
What about 'table bit depth' that is part of the grungy charm of the TX81z...
But what ever it will be I know it'll be good :)
@samu I will take a look at all of them. btw. Spectral/wavetable modules come first.
Both excellent. Thanks.
Along similar lines, I know in the past @giku youve mentioned more stereo modulation was to come. Hoping it will get in on the Frequency shifter, as well as saturation modules.
I haven't found it very usable, so I focused on other things :)
I'm too lazy now to build it but check out this example for doing frequency shifting:
You can do it! And the new mixer will help for sure.
Saturation is covered in great depth by the Graphic Shaper already. Add filters if you want frequency dependent saturation.
@rs2000 sorry if this wasn’t clear, I was just asking if the frequency shifter amount and range inputs would be able to modulate from a stereo signal (like the filters). The module takes stereo input, but modulation is not in stereo.
i have used the McGill resource various times but have not read much about different effects, thanks for the suggestion.
@bcrichards Sorry I must have been too tired, I didn't read your post carefully enough 🤭
That’s ok, because now I’ve spent the night building pitch shifters and phase shifters :O
Ok freq shifter modulation will be stereo :)
Ok it is stereo, but input signal must be stereo :). Most modules work like this.
while you are at it please make the dry wet knob modulatable too :)
