Feature request: Keyboard Support
Apologies if this has been touched on, but I’d love to see Keyboard Support. Especially support Spacebar start/stop. General cut, copy, paste, etc. And even the ability to use the “letter keys” as a piano keyboard perhaps.
Thanks for the awesome AUv3 host support! Next level.
Cheers

Bluetooth keyboard midi control is supported in current beta.
It seems to be standalone only though. I just tried Audiobus and AUM and neither seem to support qwerty keyboards. Hope I’m wrong though.
Not even beta anymore, this was introduced in the latest update. Standalone only though.
It works! Many thanks.
only Drambo does.
@giku An AUv3 can launch the keyboard by means of a text field. Could that be used as long as a "dummy" text field is in focus?
If so, can entered text be captured while typing?
Im using a special listener that knows current state of all keys ( e.g. shift ) this won't work with textfield. Key states goes to a view that is set as first responder. Im gonna ask Jonathan for that.
So what’s the procedure for connecting Bluetooth keyboards/keypads? I had it working but just tried again and none of my Bluetooth gizmos are seen by Drambo!! Could someone check please?
They both pair perfectly with my phone and iPad but Drambo doesn’t see them when I try in settings!
Very strange.
Burger menu => Connect Bluetooth devices should see them, it's a standard iOS dialog.
If your iPad has BT enabled, that is 😅
Yeah, exactly. I’ve done it before but it’s not working now. No idea what’s happening.
@rs2000 how does it work pairing-wise? Do I need to pair it first or not? I’ve tried both: paired in iOS settings and connecting there and not pairing and doing everything using Drambo but it just doesn’t see anything. Grrrr, annoying.
No pairing required. Just tried with a BT MIDI dongle that was never before paired to this iPad. The dialog will show all BT MIDI devices that have been paired before as well as new ones.
Tried a reboot? I'm on iOS 13.7 btw.
I hate to say it again but this might be yet another iOS 14 annoyance...
All good @rs2000
Apparently Giku broke the functionality when he was messing with the new midi in/out. Fixed in the next beta. Phew!
As for Orba, I bought it recently but I found it incredibly small too play expressively. I think if they make a full size (at least 25cm diameter version for under £250 they have a winner.
Interesting. It still works here.
What about the 16 pressure sensitive Beatstep pads?
Not sure I’m still waiting for a cheap one to show on eBay and poly aftertouch, whichever shows first.
I’m also trying to focus on bop pad which lately re-appeared in my life. So many options, and so little time ;)
How can I change the octave on the keyboard? So that z gives me C3 not C1
Thanks!
Also, on my logitech case keyboard, I see some weird behaviour when I try to hold down for chords. Like if i hold down v and n , then i dont see a midi note in the monitor when i press <
+ 1 for SunVox/Renoise like 'tracker input' for entering/step-recording notes into Drambo 😎
You could insert a MIDI Transpose module before the MIDI to CV. That would give you the same control as you have on a normal music keyboard.
Works for me on my Anker keyboard, which emulates the old Apple mini keyboard. v, n, "," give F major chord. The "<" is shifted over the comma on my keyboard. Are you holding shift, or maybe shift lock?
And I tested the MIDI Transpose module, works as expected. Set the Amount to 12 and the Interval then transposes by octaves.
Cool! Also good to think about midi modulation generally.
