Modulator => MIDI key pressure modulator lacks note number
For evaluating polyphonic aftertouch, the note number that comes with poly aftertouch must be known, either as a filter (adjust mote number and only get poly aftertouch for this note) or as a separate output (a polyphonic aftertouch signal).
As a first step, a note filter would already be quite useful (example: 16 expression pads with Arturia Beatstep).

Ha, this would somewhat turn beatstep into a super pad controller with pressure on each pad. Tempted to buy one again.
Exactly. Imagine 16 different chord pads that can be faded in and out live ๐
@rs2000 are you actually talking about the regular beatstep or the pro version. I had a vague search through the manual but I don’t see any mention.
The regular, low cost model. Yes, it has poly aftertouch and that's outstanding but a poly AT MIDI message contains different note numbers for each pad and to use these, you need something to select which is which.
If you press on different pads with different forces, you can easily see it on a MIDI monitor.
That’s great, I’m getting one! Yes, I understand the reason behind filtering notes in pressure module ;)
The only thing is that I didn’t get on with the encoders when I last owned one. No matter how I set it up in midi control centre they would always behave differently from expected.
Drambo has great support for incremental encoders, believe me, I've tried a lot of different models and we've tried to support the most common ones, even the special 1-bit non-accelerating but high symbol rate encoding used on many DJ style scratch wheels.
So I would suggest to use one of the the incremental modes in Midi Control Center and find the correct incremental mode in Drambo's MIDI mapping.
Mind you, some Beatsteps (like other Arturia gear) will develop faulty knob behavior over time. Environments with bad air quality (like high CFC levels or cigarette smoke) will definitely cause that. You'll have to open the case to fix it (clean & lubricate the encoder contacts with appropriate grease).
I get what you’re saying about knobs ageing but they wouldn’t be doing it all at once. I remember when it was being discussed back in the day. All I can do is try one but might wait until after touch note filter lands.
Am I correct that Drambo isn’t quite able to deal withh Poly Aftertouch or Channel Pressure yet? Drambo is seeing it on the MIDI Monitor module, but I can’t sort how to get Drambo to pass it on to and actually modulate a parameter.
Thanks in advance. Still learning, and now learning with a Launchpad X! ๐
Currently aftertouch is applied to all of the notes. There is no note filter in pressure module.
Thanks! I found the correct module (expected it to be under MIDI, not Modulator, category).
Shame that the sequences does not record the pressure data, though. Guess I could try and use a sampler, after converting to CV...? Hmm.
Thanks again!
I've mentioned it several times too, I'd love to have the MIDI key pressure modulator working correctly - maybe @giku can leave word with us.
So the Polyphonic Key mode in the MIDI Key Pressure module does not work for me. If I set the Launchpad X to Polyphonic Aftertouch and set the Drambo module to Polyphonic Key, parameters don’t respond to pressure.
Channel Pressure works just fine, though.
A preemptive apology if the Polyphonic Key mode is still in Beta. ๐ณ๐คฆ๐ปโ๏ธ
I will take a look at this tomorow. Seems like a bug.
I will cook up a quick video for you, hope it will help. :)
thanks you dont have to, i assume its a robust failure ;)
Fail hard or go home, @giku ๐
:)
Polyphonic pressure needs a note number to be adjusted in the module. This has to be added.
Ok, this needs some fundamental changes
The problem is that Poly pressure / key modulator doesn't know what MIDI note belongs to which CV channel.
Give me some time

Let me know if I can help in any way.
