virtual midi controller versus real one issue
I set up a template in AUM of Xequence that has the same ccs and pads as my Akai mini keyboard controller in an attempt to be able to midi learn things when I am away from the keyboard.
I have all the same ccs / note value numbers showing up when either the real or virtual one is connected, but they don't work.
i.e. set up the ccs in AUM/Xequence. Close that app. Plug in the Akai. Ccs don't work. Reassign them from the Akai, the numbers look the same.

Have you used a MIDI monitor to check if the MIDI messages reach their destination(s)?
Also check in mapping settings what type of control it is set to. I often map buttons and Drambo detects them as continuous instead of toggle and I need to change it manually otherwise they won’t work.
I suspect that the Core MIDI or Virtual MIDI source port is being learned as well as the MIDI parameters. So the different sources are not interchangeable.
Thanks. In hardware, which Im surely a lot more accustomed to, it usually doesn’t matter so I didn’t think of this.
Good idea.
I'm doing a similar thing with my APC 40 and TouchOSC. I've not had problems.
