Recreate Elektron Model Cycles in Drambo
Hello,
I’m a newbie with Drambo but simply fascinated by this powerful app. Wow, it’s a must have and really on the top of all music apps.
i’m not an owner of Elektron Model Cycles but plan to buy one soon.
But I ask myself if somebody tried to recreate the M:C in Drambo. Knowing the power of this fantastic app I’m quiet sure it’s possible.

You could get very close. The manual for Cycles (pg. 35) does not disclose the exact FM structures and other synthesis for each machine, so it would be hard to replicate it exactly, but almost all the parts should be there.
Drambo obviously borrows heavily from Elektron’s sequencer and p-locks, so even without the exact same sound engine, the workflow is there.
Yes the sequencer is here and maybe more powerful than M:C’s one.
For the sound if somebody owns a M:C (me maybe soon) he could try to recreate by starting from the knobs full left then each knob full right to recreate each knob action. Maybe I’m wrong.
i have not had the time to look but there should be some videos on YouTube that walk through each machine’s parameters. You should be able to get pretty close I would think, Drambo has a big toolbox. The only thing that might inhibit you would be the left to right signal flow (if the Cycles engines have a lot of feedback) and the macro knobs (getting the right interaction between parameters in Drambo for maximum sweet spots).
Definitely possible! In fact I've planned to do this with a Digitone one day. But I guess my Wavestate is going to keep me too busy atm 😁
I’ve definitely been gassing a cycles the last couple of weeks, looks well mellow
hey everybody, first post on the forum but have been a heavy Drambo user since Xmas.
I recently built all the Digitone algorithms in Drambo. made sliders for the operator volumes, feedback and the x/y crossfader. can really dial in and modulate the patches easily. I’m tweaking the interface and working on some presets but plan to make them available when I’m happy with everything.

@cryptonym sounds super cool. Can’t wait to see what you’ve made.
Welcome to the Drambo Forum👊🏼™️
Hi and welcome @cryptonym.
Wow, that sounds incredible! I'd be more than happy to get my hands on this.
If you're getting stuck at some point or have any questions, feel free to ask 😊
Hey !!! You’re a boss. Incredible. Please share it.
Sounds splendid, I did fold and get a Cycles, not had the time to really dig in, but I’m loving the simplicity of the sequencer (thanks to drambo school I think), and the range of tones possible from a few simple dial tweaks...
The guy disappeared as fast as he came… And this is his only post in this forum… maybe a guy from Elektron 😂
:P I don't use any Elektron gear at this point but there is no doubt that their hardware experience and sequencer workflow are top notch.
Yes. This new generation of Elektron gears seems great. The old generation was cool but it seems that the two M: are much more friendly to use.
I still didn’t buy the M:C because I prioritized the purchase of a MPC One. But this is still my plan.
Relax. If he's really adding presets then he's doing a lot of work and that takes time.
Slightly off topic but the SunVox developer just posted a teaser about FM2 that will be included in SunVox 2.0.
it’s a mammoth 5OP FM modules that will save a lot of patch time and yepp all parameters can be controlled by either pattern commands or other means of modulation, will surely be a blast when it drops :)
You’re right sorry for that
prepping for a gig at the end of month so that has had my attention. for once actually writing songs instead of losing hours doing sound design or building things which is very refreshing.
I made some seriously good kick and snare patches so drum presets are over halfway done and will give me a beat to work on tonal sounds.
aiming to have 4 sounds per algo so there is some variety when morphing. that’s my vision and I’m working on it.
in the meantime, if your looking for some FM samples, check out the 4-op FM sound generator I built in Pure Data (it is included with the album). this is the engine of a larger build that morphed between 2 presets and a random point.

Very cool! I wish it was easier to map sunvox parameters in Drambo (there is no direct AUv3 param mapping), I would use modules like this more
I'm a huge noise+percussion head, I'm digging these tracks.
I made a pretty rad FM based Kick Drum I should post at some point. The main thing that stops me is that I use SunVox for my ADSR and I feel kinda bad continuing to post patches that require other AUv3s.
Edit: Now that patchstorage allows zip files, maybe I'll upload a zip containing a version with SunVox and one without.
Cool. I've tried to open it in MobMuPlat and the UI seems to be there.
How are the sounds triggered?
By MIDI input?
there’s a metro at the top or you can turn on the drone toggle.
haven’t tried it on MobMuPlat myself. didn’t know if it would work since it wasn’t built in Vanilla. let me know if it works.
Thanks, I'll try on desktop first. Did you use PurrData?
here it is!
borrowed some OPSIX UI components. FM programming is really quick and easy once you put some time into it but it can make some really, really complex sounds too. hope you enjoy it.

I feel like I should get this pack as it looks interesting and educational, though weirdly I can’t seem to pay with paypal even though it’s gumroad. I’ll guess I’ll have to actually dig out my debit card 😁
Nice @cryptonym! 👏🏼
What's the deal about TX-81 vs Digitone?
Can your Drambo project be used to dial in any sound that's possible on the Digitone?
Hello Guys,
anybody knows if there is a possibility to TEMPORARY SAVE PATTERN and TEMPORARY RELOAD PATTERN like in model cycles ?
this seems to be a huge sequencer feature for live jamming in model cycles and other electron hardware. Any tips or a workaround for drambo?
Thanks in advance
slaq
Depending of what exactly you want to achieve, you can use scenes and scene condition for this.
@slaq Yep, please describe what you want to achieve so people who don't own the cycles can help 😊
I want tweaking some parameter like pitch, filter, ADSR on various channel in drambo In a live jam situation then I like to switch back to the previous state. All parameters should switch to the starting situation...maybe a snapshot? I didn't found snapshots in drambo!
Thanks for your help :)
