I'm trying to use the XY Pad for mixing between 4 signals, one on each corner of the pad.. Is this doable?
Sure! Say you have four oscillators - use one n-1 switch for 1 and 2, a second n-1 switch for 3 and 4, and a third n-1 to blend the first two together. Use either X or Y axis as the index for the first two n-1 switches, and the other axis for the third n-1 switch.
Here I use x-fade on all switches, but if you didn’t want any blending, you could switch the mode to smooth/instant for just the isolated sounds.
Cheers @bcrichards !! I'll try that. Thank you! 🙌🏼
Is it possible to do the same thing but with all four oscillators
sounding at the same time when the XY pad is in the middle?
@gravitas the screenshared I shared will do that. The first two switches blend between left and right, with one representing the bottom and one representing the top. The third switch combines the first two switches, and blends the top and bottom, effectively. Middle position will have all four sound/signal sources.
The reason why I was asking because I tried that.
Let me try again because I did get all four oscillators in the corners.
I didn’t mention - XY pad must be unipolar. Xfade is necessary for smooth fading and middle position with all 4 sound sources (without some extra finagling).
Here’s the screenshot of the one I did using yours as an example.
The first two switch index’s use X and the third switch index uses Y.
Note that the oscillators have different pitches so that
I should hear a chord when the XY pad is in the center.
I tried this, but i've only got to have osc1 and osc2 on top (left ro right), and the same in the lower corners. idk if I'm missing some connections.
Are all 3 switches set to X-Fade?
And make sure the first 2 switches use the same pad coordinate (say X), and the 3rd switch uses the other coordinate (say Y). And the pad is set to Unipolar.
it worked!! Thank you, I was connecting osc1/2 to X and 3/4 to Y.
And here is the reason for my question, in case anyone want to give it a try, it's a FM processor with 4 algorhythms and yes, the XY pad morphs between these algorhythms.
Nice one @inframes!
