It's an all metal enclosure and feels like a tank. SOLID :)
It draws power over USB. I have a Pro, which has enough to power it...I think for the Lightning iPad, you will need to also provide power to the Dongle.

A bit more exploration with the SQ-64 + Drambo this evening:
The buttons are backlit rubbery in texture and have a firm press. And yes, it transmits Notes and CC over Midi. There is a dedicated Controller Mode button which turns every button into a CC button (which you can manually assign or accept what is assigned by default).
In control mode is it also capable to receive midi led feedback from Drambo?
