My wish-list after using Drambo for one year
I've been using Drambo in combination with my Eurorack case for live performances since last year. And I'm super happy with this!
Usually i use 8 different tracks on Drambo and each track has its own midi channel.
My hardware controller has 8 different banks also arranged with 8 different midi channels.
At a gig I often switch between different tracks on Drambo and choose a bank on my midi controller that corresponds to a track. I then discovered the function "Auto-select track" which I find very useful so that I don't have to choose a selection twice. (via hardware and on Drambo). Now this function works if you use a key of your midi keyboard, but in my case I may have already played and recorded a pattern there, so if I want to use the "Auto select track" then rather in a silent way ;)
Is it possible to build it so that if I move a mapped knob for example that this function works? Would be really great.
And what I would like is that my hardware controller also gets actual midi feedback! Please....
And the last wish: Most hardware controllers work with banks and unfortunately the transport controls go along with the chosen midi channels in the banks. So if I choose bank 2 (I have set to midi channel 2) in the hardware. then the transport no longer works via the hardware (so the same CC number but different midi channel)
Is it possible to set transport CC to catch all midi channels as an option? (solved ;)
This is my setup: also use the Retrokits RK-006 MIDI/Gate Hub for midi to CV (6 channels)

What midi controller do you have?
"Is it possible to set transport CC to catch all midi channels as an option?"
You can assign multiple CC's to one point when midi mapping.
I have the Akai MPK mini plus, really a nice controller with a small display and you can name all the knobs for visual feedback!
"You can assign multiple CC's to one point when midi mapping". 🤣
Afcourse i forgot that one! thanks for the tip! one wish less ;)
I don't know the Akai MPK mini plus.
What are you looking for exactly in regards to hardware feedback
as quite often the feedback is visual when performing and
you can create pseudo feedback using midi information
that the midi controller can respond to.
A user over in the dRambo FB Group has started creating visual midi feedback
for his Akai MidiMix and we discovered that the Akai MidiMix does respond
to midi note on and off for the LED's and that you have to send two separate messages
rather than merely using Gate on/off.
They created eight of these for each channel on the Akai MidiMix.

One less off the wish list?
Very cool. ;)
Will join this FB group! and also try to build it in Drambo!
For me the most important feedback on my controller are the pads: I use the pads for muting tracks or drum channels. On the hardware controller I have setup the pads on Toggle.
is it this group? Drambo - Modular Groovebox
Do you have a example for building this?
All you need are the midi notes or cc messages that it responds to.
Yup, that's the FB Group. :)
"Do you have a example for building this?"
Use what's shown in the screenshot and create one for each pad you need to assign.
The "Buttons" module sends the freq for the note that you need to send using the chart below
and the freq to CV module connected to "Pitch" out translates it as midi note.
https://www.inspiredacoustics.com/en/MIDI_note_numbers_and_center_frequencies
For instance C2 = 65.41 so when a pad responds to C2 send type in the freq into the Button
and that will light up the pad and switch it off.
Please do you have a patch example? would be really nice...
I actually don't have an example for the Akai MidiMix as I don't have an Akai MidiMix.
They basically used the screenshot I provided and extrapolated it out for their purposes.
Thanks, I have placed the question on the Facebook group.
"You can assign multiple CC's to one point when midi mapping".
I have tried this and with all the transport functions I can't sign multiple midi channels.... :(
because the transport buttons on my hardware is a fixed CC
Not sure about that one.
You can assign one CC to more than one Drambo control but AFAIK you can only map one exact message to the same control.
Will try this tonight, thanks again!
Ahhh there's also another thing.
You need to send "Velocity=127" for on and "Velocity=0" for off as separate messages otherwise
you could simply use the "Buttons" gate signal out hence why the "Gate+Vel" Sequencer is there.
I have tried to rebuild the modules like the screenshot you post it: The button is connected to the clock from the Gate+Velocity seq. When I push the button is see the:
Note on C1 127 and Note off C1 0 at the same time.... Is that good? and one question, how do I setup the freq? to get higher and lower pitches?
Now I have used the Transpose module...
Here’s the patch from the screenshot with
an added Button and Midi Monitor so that you can see the difference.
To input Frequencies into the Buttons on the Buttons module,
Swipe up.
Set both the Buttons module and the midi mapping to Momentary.
Using the Pitch module to transpose is very useful but this way you use one less module.
C1 in dRambo is C0 from the list I posted earlier so when choosing
the frequencies from the midi note list that you need, transpose up an octave.
Thanks a lot, will test it tomorrow....
No probs...
No luck, my model is not reacting with midi note in.....
also found another thread where they have try it, only the older models receives midi note in...😪
Thanks for your time......
Ahhh dude, sorry to hear that.
I’ve just had a read through the manual and it doesn’t say anything about receiving midi.
What about the desktop editor?
No worries.
