How to record with midi effects?

I’d like to use the app “velocity keyboard” as a midi effect in a track but can’t for the life of me figure out how to record midi with it other than silly workarounds. Is there an easy way to do this? I’m having the same trouble with scaler 2

    Enabling the REC button on the module doesn't work for you?
