@topaz : I don’t think complex and syncopated midi patterns really fit with Drambo’s step-sequencer ethos.
You are probably better doing this in BeatMaker3, where you can easily convert a sliced loop into a precisely-timed midi pattern that triggers the slices in sequence. You could always add Drambo on a second BM3 bank as an AUv3 plugin.
@topaz Drambo would at least need a way to route MIDI from a track to the sequencer midi input for recording MIDI data extracted from the slide hits, plus it would need a module that can send MIDI notes.
+1 for ‘assign slices to steps’. This is fun/useful on Octatrack, esp with the ‘randomise step order’ option! Rinse and repeat til something jumps out.
Maybe I’m missing something but if you slice by transients and set Flexi Sampler Start Slice to Note each key starting at C2 and up plays a different slice. But I’m still not clear exactly what is being requested. 🤔
I think the problem is the transient markers aren’t always placed accurately. You can tweak them manually but maybe this is something @giku can look at? Maybe some controls for transient detection are needed (threshold etc.)? Notice in the screen cap that a bunch of transients are bang on and others aren’t.
No slicing algo is perfect (see Propellerheads ReCycle 😂).
But Drambo already does a very good job IMHO.
Manual controls for:
Level Threshold
Level Slope
Would help of course.
Still, most often you'll have to manually adjust a few slices anyway because often each transient needs different settings within the same file, especially for lower level transients or sounds with slower attacks that you want included as a slice too.
Maybe - but the pic I uploaded is a consistent drum loop all the way through and you can see that it’s dead on in the beginning and then goes off further into the file. I would expect it to be consistent all the way through. Here’s a shot of the new loop tool in Auditor. Notice the difference in accuracy at the default automatic settings. A very slight tweak of sensitivity nailed it.
Sorry to revive this older thread, but does anyone know if this option was ever added? If so, how can you achieve this? Are there any patches that accomplish something similar (copying sample slices to the main sequencer for randomization of step order)?

What you mean? :)
You already can assign slices to incoming MIDI notes (keys) in Flexi sampler.
I mean extract midi from the sliced sample to the sequencer.
so slice the loop (transients) and an option to create sequencer notes from the loop.
You can. Somebody did it with some breakbeats.
Unless you mean midi note detection.
I honestly can’t see how to achieve this ?
Maybe you can watch excellent tutorial video from @bcrichards : https://youtu.be/ZbEWNc4kuJs
I have, there is no explanation of how to transfer/extract sliced loop to sequencer notes.
Maybe this is clearer explanation of slice groove to midi

I do not think there is anyway to currently achieve this.

Yes, I know BM3 can do it, i was just hoping drambo would to as it’s an auv3.
request please @giku :-)
FWIW, i use ReSlice to achieve this in Drambo
Can you show what you mean?
I made this but don’t know exactly what you mean:
feature request.
1.slice a sample inside flexi sampler.
2.edit menu/ create sequence from slices.
is that now clear ?
Chromatic only works for grid slicing. But for transients that won’t work :-(

@giku Is that possible somehow?

Randomizng the step order is something you can build today, without the main sequencer.
You still need to lay down the trigs on the Octatrack beforehand, though.
Yeah but only takes a sec to slide finger across all steps to input them on OT. But I guess you can easy copy/paste to speed it up in Drambo too.
Yeah for sure :) Sometimes it’s cool to randomise at the sequencer level though so you can edit in that headspace
Yes, no doubt 😋

Yes, but the timing / groove will be out. Works ok mpc grid style but the midi needs to line up with each transient.

Like - why is it marking that second “transient”?

@Mr_Goodbar There's definitely something like that available on patchstorage.com.
