How do I get gates from radio music?
Im experimenting with ways of turning radio signals into completely different music with heavy signal processing but Im having trouble getting any kind of gate signals that sorta follow the tempo. Envelope follower seems to not work on whole mixes of music cause the signal never dips.

You could try filtering the source, maybe a bandpass, to emphasize one component of the mix. Then use envelope follower on that.
Perhaps transient detector into modal resonator or FDN module?
