A cheap (20€) but nice bluetoth controller for Drambo
I wanted something cheap but with big buttons (so no mini keyboard).
I bought this numeric pad and added some black tape.
27 buttons but "$", "00", "calc" and "=" don't work (iPad compatibility I think). Still 23 buttons mapped 😊

Indeed it's great to know that Drambo supports ASCII keyboards for remote control.
Nice one! 😊
tks 😉
and Bluetooth, my bad
Yes, I have one of those. I used it until I realised that D needs to be foregrounded for it to work. I swapped it for Korg Nanokey Studio now.
It’s good to have that option though if foreground is not an issue.
😀 Nice @supadom!
Why foreground could be an issue?
If Drambo is in the background bt keypads and keyboards will not work.
I use Drambo hosted and sometimes have other apps on the screen
For a while I thought that it was my keypad going into sleep mode until I was told that it won’t work with D in the background.
This is not the case with midi bt devices like nanokey studio.
Damn, you're right @supadom! I did see that last night when I was using an auv3 inside Drambo. Thats sucks!
You guys have any ideas to get ride of that? Use a drambo module, steambyter/moizaic or/and audiobus/Aum ?
I think that translate ASCII to midi CC should do the trick, no? Maybe outside of Drambo, so audiobus/Aum...
@Julienj I'm quite sure that's a security feature in iOS. Custom iOS keyboards can work around this limitation if they're restricted enough security-wise (like used in the latest FAC AUv3 plugin manager) but I doubt there's a solution for external Bluetooth keyboards.
Sidecar might be an option. It still has to run in the foreground, but it’s possible to use split screen http://secretbasedesign.com/apps/sidecar.html
I'm new to Drambo and I haven't figured yet out how to connect my NanoKey Studio with Drambo over Bluetooth. What I do now is open another DAW like BM3 or Cubasis and connect it there and then it works in Drambo as well. Is there another way from inside Drambo to connect it?
Have you tried this?
First you need to ‘find and connect’ your Bluetooth device (1), then you can enable it for tracking and/or control in the settings (2)
OMG I have looked hours for this. I didn't know that I had to scroll down in the settings menu, the drop down menu just ended with "Shop" for me 😂 😂
Anyway, great, thanks!
Never heard of thit developper. I will have a look. Tks @catherder
He! Thanks for this great idea 👍
😃
🤔 bt keyboard as midi controller on iPad - it creates a weird logical hoop - if app is not in foreground my key shortcuts dont work.
if I use drambo on the laptop - its obvious that my key shortcuts won't work when drambo isn't the selected app. there is no logical disconnect here.
on the iPad with no directly connected keyboard , its oops - didnt expect that.

@lala Welcome to iPhone security ported to the iPad 😄
oh it makes sense on any computer that not every other app open can see what you type into some other app 😂
This is an annoying problem, to solve it I used this gadget, it can pair with bluetooth keyboard, then convert the keyboard signal to midi and send it to ipad/iphone via USB. but need some basic coding knowledge to do this.
