I don’t actually, I guess they’re pretty simple though, probably just protection for the LEDs ? I’ll have a look about and maybe at the back on one of mine…
I mostly use the vactrols I have for way too easy CV control, but I need to figure out other ways as they’re too expensive for the amount I want to incorporate in the Witak thing I want to build, thinking FET are the way to go… I’m also thinking about building some ghetto ones from incandescent light bulbs; more slow and even quite pretty. Apparently they used to be made like that.

True @gravitas, the JAF Collection is a really nice set of filters. I almost forgot about it.
Have you considered adding a delay to build up some polyphonic joy? :)
Yeah, I have thought about it but my iphone 7 said ,”no way José”, until I did some reconfiguring last night. ;)
I have been diligently mapping the AUM project to the LC XL, more news on that later.
I’m also going to do a configuration in dRambo rather soon including the LFO/filter sweep that I’ve got going on.
Combined with dRambo, the Crave is a joy to use, if I the Crave was my only main sequencer
I would’ve been deep learning it’s sequencer by now but simply running a usb cable out to it takes away that need
and I’ve also discovered the joys of calibrating the oscillator. :)
This arrived in the post yesterday and I had to collect it today.
It’s called an Optothing, it’s the first version not the second one.
Now I can really find out what the furore is about in regards to low pass gates.
Oh, that's excellent! Looking forward to hearing it 😊
Very soon.
I don’t have enough patch cables orherwise
you’d be hearing it. 😁
That’s why I got it. ;)
Quick update…
I was being a it slow there…
I’ve got enough patch cables for now, I was thinking to keep the patching that
I had done on the Crave in case I were to forget it but….it seems I’m memorised it….
Re-wiring now….😇
@lala
I can now hear precisely what you’ve been raving about all this time.
I’m feeding the low pass gate with the Env from the Crave and it’s really cool.
I can also hear now why it’s good on softening percussive sounds.
The Attack becomes quite soft but in a musical way.
It’s very subtle but when you hear the difference? it’s huge.
For those interested in such things…
😁
vactrols certainly add a special flavor :)
there certainly is room in any mix for the "softer attacks" I guess ...
I want this polyphon to play ambient pads with 🤤 @giku
LPG gates are great, especially the passive ones, no extra power suck and really versatile…
Got a few vactrols here, do you have circuit diagrams of good LPGs?
I don’t actually, I guess they’re pretty simple though, probably just protection for the LEDs ? I’ll have a look about and maybe at the back on one of mine…

This thread looks good…

its a light getting brighter ... controlling a 6db lowpass filter & vca at the same time
See Doepfer A-101-2
@rs2000
Here are a couple of links, one is for a low pass filter schematic and the other is for a low pass gate,
both are passive and are really easy to build.
one is the filter, the other is the vca
together they build the lowpassgate ...
Low pass filter I made last week under construction, two stage/12dB/octave new old stock paper capacitors, works a treat taming my harsh oscillators…
Agreed and what's also really cool is that one could either make them small like this,
or 3D print/laser cut a panel and mount them in Eurorack format. :)
Nice one.
Anarchy 😂
Well,.. that’s a way to go. 😂
@lala
In regards to the 3d printing/laser cutting?
I have some interesting news in that regards…watch this space ;)
Thanks @Krupa & @gravitas, these look great!
😁
hm, sure makes more interesting waveforms than the crave can come up with.
@gravitas
oh no, you have no triangle / sine
maybe with filter resonance?
you now have the lpg
it screams to eat sine/triangle + wavefolder ...
then you have the best of both worlds I guess ...
I had a look at that wave folder as well, it looks very interesting.
Yup, the Crave has no triangle or sine wave unless one uses it’s internal LFO.
The only thing is the LFO cannot track to 1V/oct (I hope that’s the correct description),
basically it’s out of tune across the octaves without a either using an external CV input
with the necessary adjustments or using a voltage amplifier.
Similarly I have the same issue with the Komplete Audio 6 mkii so
inevitably I’m going to need something like this to sort out the scaling etc,
The other thing to do would be to get the Crave’s VCF to self oscillate
which would bring it close to a sine wave I suppose.
is very interesting
its 4 wavefolders
modulatable until the cows come home
Before I get to there, I was wondering can we wavefold oscillators/sound coming into dRambo via an audio interface?
there are 2 wavefolders in the shaper module
and you can draw things with the graphic shaper
Lockhart from the cheap wave folding module above is one of the presets of the graphic shaper ;)
just remember to feed it not much overtones,
as input (hence sine or triangle)
or very low filtered saw (that should work for you!)
otherwise it just produces some kind of distorted garbage
